GOD, ARE YOU EVEN CAPABLE?

"GOD, SIT IN YOUR PLACE; YOU’RE NOT CAPABLE"

In what ways do we say this to God? Read on!

 ‘Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God and said, Behold, if the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be?’ 2 Kings 7:2a [KJV]

 I don’t know how you’re feeling, reading this. But I know that you probably are thinking on this man’s level of unbelief-Let’s make it clearer with another version;

 “The officer assisting the king said to the man of God, ‘That couldn’t happen even if the LORD opened the windows of heaven!’” 2 Kings 7:2a [NLT]

 That’s like saying, “Elisha, even the ‘baba nla’ you believe in can’t do this! Even if the skies were to rain flour and grain from God, this is impossible!” What insolence!

 I really feel bad for this man and the end he had, and you probably do too. But we cannot wave aside the fact that he didn’t only doubt and dare God, he belittled Him.

 This man said rude words to God directly, but many of us do the same indirectly. When you face a problem and your first reaction is nowhere near contacting God, when we shift the Bible to access other alternatives, what we’re doing is like declaring out loud; “God, you know what, this particular problem is too big, too enormous for you to handle…”

If it’s a sickness, it may be something like; “I know you’ve done ‘things’ before, God, like you healed my headache the other day, but this one ailment is too great for you, so just sit in your place and watch, you’re not capable!”

 What disrespect! You’d definitely not say it as ‘unkindly’ as that, but actually that is just what you’re implying.

 God hates being taken for granted or with levity.

 Remember Lot’s wife, she was most likely few miles from Zoar, but perhaps it occurred to her like; “God, you are taking me somewhere, I know. But this place is better than anywhere, why did you have to ‘uproot’ me, and now you’re telling me not to look back, you couldn’t even come yourself, you sent angels and you expect me to leave without a blink, no God, it isn’t done that way!” So she looked back and, you know what happened. {Quick tip: Full story is in Genesis 19}

 There are so many examples for us to see, the Titanic, and even Pharaoh in Moses’ time, et cetera.

 So next time you’re about to think in the wrong direction, you’d better call yourself back before you become God’s enemy…

 Remain blessed!
