ILLUSION

ILLUSION
He was on the bank,
Just last night,
On the verge of being carried away,
His eyes focusing,
On what he didn’t want to lose,
Trying hard not to get distracted,
By the turbid water,
Yet then, he lifted his eyes,
And saw it, looking so attractive, so enjoyable;
He became engrossed,
‘It’d just take a little swim’, he thought,
And tried moving towards it;
But it was fruitless,
Like navigating a labyrinth in the dark,
Or a maze of identical doors,
He really wanted this,
Thought he needed it badly,
At that point,
What he didn’t want at first to lose,
What he really was supposed to choose,
Became valueless, useless to him,
And he thought it was an upgrade,
When it was in fact, only a worse update,
Exchanging the invaluable for a valuable,
He dropped it,
And it made his journey easier, he naively thought;
He was reaching out to his target,
A few more scrambling,
And some more clambering,
He was finally there,
The pearl was before him,
With a radiance he’d never seen,
The wide smile on his face was obvious,
But he was in for a shock;
Before his eyes, just as he stretched forth his hands,
It vaporized into a mist,
And disappeared into thin air,
But at this point,
He had reached the middle of the sea,
A U-turn was impossible,
As was a detour.
Totally too late,
He remained there in regret,
And then he was swept away;
When he was deposited on another bank this morn’
The shock in his eyes was awful;
A mirage had killed him!
.
MORAL:
Don’t swap your faith, your salvation for anything,
It’s a deal you’ll regret bitterly.
DON’T DO IT!
